As counter tops are a heavily used surface, it is normal for coatings on the wood to wear through over time. lots of questions, is this a butcher block slab, ie is the end grain up, or is this boards laid on edge, how thick is it. Butcher block is merely slices of wood glued together into inches-thick slabs—a particularly sturdy and stable work surface in a kitchen.
