Straightening Warped Wood Countertops. Re-Flattening a Warped Countertop A beautiful wood countertop warped after it was finished on one side only, then stored for years. How to iron a warped/cupped board flat again!
I'll take some time to debunk some popular beliefs about them and shed some light on these three topics in particular: How to Flatten Warped Plywood. Press the iron down on one end of the covered wood. In the old days, this drying was done by stacking (and "stickering") the wood under cover until it reached a moisture content in equilibrium with the moisture in the surrounding air.
Leave it to sit in place a day or two, if possible, to encourage the warp to lessen.
Once straight, switch the water formula for an Elmer's white glue or the wood glue with water.
This wood is better environmentally and health-wise, but it is not as good as a building material. Gradually slide it all the way over the entire surface, applying even pressure to the warped area. Place the wood in a clamp, making sure to tighten it with a great amount of pressure until the warped parts start straightening.
