Waterfall Concrete Countertop Fixer Upper. After watching a few episodes of Fixer Upper on HGTV, I was inspired to build a concrete counter with waterfall edges. Back to nature Concrete can be earthy and natural, with a tactile quality not found in synthetic or stainless-steel surfaces.

Distinctive features in the new kitchen include a large island with waterfall concrete countertops, suspended industrial shelving and extra tall cabinets. In a special episode of Fixer Upper, Chip and Jo renovate a century-old building at the recently opened Magnolia Silos, helping to fulfill one of Joanna's long-standing ambitions — to open and operate an old-fashioned bakery. There, you could see the period piece, which includes a quatrefoil relief, in all its charm.

Joanna also repurposed a lot of the wood from the original hearth of the fireplace, creating a bar top looking into the backyard in the kitchen.

A kitchen island not only serves a design focal point, it also provides practical storage, extended countertop space, and often times an extra built-in seating. Concrete countertops have been around for awhile, but when Joanna Gaines had Chip install them in their Fixer Upper houses, the popularity of them exploded. The price was very reasonable when you compare to the other Fixer Upper houses.
